Global Health Network

Global Health Economics, Management and Policy

The Global Health Economics, Management and Policy group has the mission to deliver sound, high-quality evidence to support policymakers and practitioners to improve effectiveness, efficiency and equity in health service provision, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. We aim at promoting a dialog between researchers and health care stakeholders, as well as contributing to capacity building in the health care sectors across the globe. Our group is multidisciplinary and offers expertise in the fields of health economics, health management and health policy with regard to both teaching and research.

We focus on a broad range of global health topics such as:

  •  insurance coverage
  • social inequalities
  • poverty analysis
  •  out-of-pocket payments
  • health policy evaluation
  • maternal care and reproductive health
  • double burden of malnutrition
  • human resources for health
  •  health-seeking behavior
  • primary care provision and many more

The methods used span across the social science spectrum, including econometrics, modelling, qualitative observation methods, in-depth interviews, focus groups, and social network analysis. Key publications of our group can be found here.

The group representatives are closely involved in the development and provision of master courses, as well as thesis supervision in:

An important part of our research work is the supervision of PhD students. The group representatives have extensive experience in supervising international PhD students, including on-line supervision of young researchers. Prospective PhD students are welcome to contact us for more information.

Our group members are regularly involved in advisory and consultancy activities, as well as in project management and implementation. Large international projects are equally appealing to us as small-scale individual projects.A list of selected projects can be found here.

We have many collaborating partners around the globe. But we are continuously seeking new opportunities. We welcome invitations for collaboration related to research, teaching and consultancy. Please, contact us.
